Mountain biking events for 2018

Want to start racing or need a goal to train for to kick-start those new years resolutions? Here’s our list of mountain bike races you shouldn’t miss in 2018!

Paddy Pallin Adventure Series – March 17, 2018

Adventure racing is kind of like a triathlon, but with more off-road fun. Instead of road riding, swimming and running, it’s mountain biking, kayaking and trail running.  Competing in teams of two, adventure racing is the ultimate way to test your fitness! This race includes a 25km ride, a 10km run and a 4km kayak. Held at Wild Horse Mountain on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, the Paddy Pallin series is a great way to get into adventure racing at any fitness level!

SEQ Enduro – Five races throughout 2018

A round of the SEQ Enduro is a must for any mountain biker. Competing alongside hundreds of other riders, including professionals such as Jared Graves, is truly an unforgettable experience. Made up of five timed downhill runs linked together by untimed climbs, enduro racing is a great way to hone your skills and fitness at the same time. Plus there’s always chances to win loads of prizes!

Bayview Blast – June 9-10, 2018

If endurance is more your style, the Bayview Blast is one not to be missed! Held over two days, the Blast is a festival for the whole family. With kids’ races on Saturday and the 50 and 100km races on Sunday, there’s an event for everyone to get involved.

Wild West Series – Six races throughout 2017 and 2018

If it’s XC racing you’re looking for, the Wild West series is for you. Made up of six races  around the Brisbane area, the Wild West series kicks off on the 3rd of December 2017 and runs through until the 11th of March 2018. With grades A through C and an under 15 category, there’s a race for you, regardless of your fitness level.

Jetblack 24-Hour – March 3-4, 2018

A 24-hour race is the ultimate test of your endurance. It’s pretty self explanatory: you ride for 24 hours straight, either by yourself or in a team of up to four. Held in the sleepy village of Rydal, 150 kilometres west of Sydney, the Jetblack 24-Hour event is one of only a few 24-hour races left.

Commonwealth Games – April 12, 2018

Chances are you won’t be able to compete in this one, and while tickets to this event are now sold out, it’s one you definitely should watch. With some of the best XC riders from around the world racing in our own backyard, it’ll be an awesome spectacle. We’re even lucky enough to be able to ride the trails and experience it for ourselves – check out our rundown of the course and then go see it for yourself.
