The DMR Brand has been making great attitude components and frames for a handful of years now. They Sponsor riders by the names of World Cup Freeracer Brendan Fairclough, Red Bull Rampage winner Andreu Lacondeguy, and Enduro larrikin Ben Deakin. These three riders all love going fast in their own discipline and promoting the good times that can be had in our sport of two wheels. These guys aren’t selfish though, because they have helped DMR bring to life what I think is their best value offering yet. Enter the DMR Sect Complete Dirt Jump Bike.
Sect is not a new name around the halls of DMR, it just now has an amplified purpose from its previous generations. Riders were able to buy the Sect frame to build to their own taste from the huge variety of components offered by DMR. What they offer now is a complete bike ready to ride for a very attractive ticket price. With it comes consistent Tektro hydraulic brakes, bombproof Alexrims DT26 wheels, fast Kenda Small Block 8 tyres, an adjustable RST Dirt100 Coil Fork, and the piste de resistance – a hydroformed Arctic Mint or Deep Purple Sect Frame. I have now owned 4 aluminum framed bikes and am not afraid to say the Sect is my first of chromoly construction. I admire the workmanship on this frame a lot. It has an integrated seat clamp bolt, a buffed headtube, and chainstays that look like they mean business. DMR has brought all this awesome craftsmanship together with their own cockpit ready to roll.
We are very fortunate here at Pushys Online HQ to have had a Brisbane council built pump track 15 minutes from our door. When this was announced open in mid-May of 2019, a handful of us flocked with our knobby-tyred trail bikes to have a crack. With our suspension fully locked out and tyres bursting at the beads we pumped as hard as we could until the lights went out. Great times were had, but little did we know what would be newly listed on Pushys Online the very next day… Four of us bought four of these bikes in four days!
As much as I loved pushing my carbon fibre trail racing bike over rollers and into the air, it just isn’t purpose built. With this new track I wanted to keep having fun with the Pushys crew, but not be guilty about taxing my precious race bike. With the DMR Sect I was able to enjoy the track at a level I haven’t before. The chromoly frame is incredibly rigid, yet forgiving when you need it to be. The fork is custom tuned for harder landings, and the geometry of the machine feels like it promotes speed. Instantly, I could clear all 4 jumps on the pro straight and have more confidence to push it again and again. Other than tapering for race weeks, I have ridden my Sect every week since the pump track opened in May. I’m incredibly glad I bought a DMR Sect to further my air time skills, and you will be too!
